Chile has got so much going on…and because its such a long country, it covers so many climates and cultures. That means it has a wide variety of everything. Having lived there for 2 years, I was able to see alot! So here are my favorites from Chile
[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”single solid” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” sep_color=”#00bcd4″ top_margin=”” bottom_margin=”” border_size=”7″ icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”left” /][fusion_text]
What to Eat/Drink
[/fusion_text][fusion_checklist icon=”” iconcolor=”” circle=”” circlecolor=”” size=”13px” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=””][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-glass”]
Pastel De Choclo: My Favorite Chilean Dish. A sweet and savory tasting corn casserole mixed with either beef or chicken, raisins, olives, onions, and other tasty ingredients.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-glass”]
Mote Con Huesillio: A refreshing summertime drink that just sounds strange, but is really delicious and is great after a long hike. Try on of these after a hike up Cerro San Cristobal in Santiago. Husked Wheat, Dried Peaches, Cinnamon, and sugar.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-glass”]
Terremoto: Bizarre Chilean party beverage consisting of Pineapple ice cream, cucumber wine(pipeño), fernet, and grenadine. Drink one and you will make friends, drink more then one and you may get sick.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-glass”]
Completo: A hot dog with mayo and ketchup….3 things I dont like, but the Chileans do and it soaks up the pisco on a late night so you have to try this national fast food at least once. Add some guacamole to make it an Italiano
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-glass”]
Empanadas de Pino: beef, raisins, olives, onions in the traditional Chilean empanada. These are good and filling
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=””]
Pebre: Similar to Pico de Gallo, but with more vinegar, olive oil, and garlic. Pebre goes well with bread before a meal
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=””]
Choripan is a beef or pork sausage served on a crunchy roll topped with pebble and mayo. These are good starters at an Asado

Punta Arenas: Halfway between Santiago and Antarctica, Punta Arenas has penguins, amazing scenery, glaciers, and fjords. It also has an interesting history as a hopping off point for adventurers over the last century.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-anchor”]
Puerto Natales: Come Here to get started on the W Trek, one of the top hikes in the world. If you love outdoor adventure, this is an epic launching point. Its close to Torres Del Paine, Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy, and near Argentina’s Perito Moreno Glacier.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-anchor”]
Puerto Varas: Beautiful Volcanoes sit above crystal blue lakes and it just feels like the alps. There are even an inordinate amount of St. Bernards roaming the streets.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-fighter-jet”]
San Pedro De Atacama: Launching point for great dessert fun. Beautiful place to watch the constellations or to go sandboarding. Hop on a jeep and do the 2 night crossing to the Salt flats of bolivia
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-anchor”]
Valparaiso: Really unique coastal city that was a major stopping off point for ships going from New York to San Francisco before the Panama Canal. Colorful and gritty, and full of stairs, murals, and cool buildings, Valpo is one of the most memorable cities in South America
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-car”]
La Serena: A nice relaxing beach stop on the way to Peru or up to the Atacama.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-plane”]
Santiago: Beautiful dustbowl surrounded by the Andes and not far from the Pacific. Great climbing, hiking, dining, and nightlife
